Inspiration for the Artwork : “Rollin...Rollin...Rollin was inspired by early American history which was often deeply troubled (like today), with hardships and cruelty, conflict and conquest.
While our American story is often harsh, unfair and wounded, there are blessings too: beauty, goodness and godliness within our complex greatness.
Today we are blessed with an imperfect but good country, of good people making progress over ignorance and healing open wounds toward a better future.
I wanted to suggest the pioneer experience, the good, the bad, the spirit, and nature’s blessings. I found a vintage wagon wheel that (who knows), may possibly have transported people westward on rough trails.Smaller wheels behind speak of the easier path we have today.
One day we will be brave enough to dialogue toward the truth, however, justice may simply be too complex and contain little satisfying resolution in an ever changing world.
“Rollin...” suggests the rough surface we live on, the wounds below and the hope above..”
