AKMA Capturing The Light of Interior Spaces Painting Workshop with Cathy Kline

Cathy Kline has dedicated 43 years to teaching and spent a decade running her art gallery in Parkville, MO—a creative space where artists could gather and grow. Though she retired from the gallery to spend more time with her granddaughters, she continues to teach and accept commissions. Cathy also founded 'Paint PARKVILLE Plein Air,' an event that thrived for eleven years.
Beyond her own work, Cathy has played a key role in Kansas City's art community, serving as President of the historic, 103-year-old Art Study Club. This club, which predates the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, once served tea during presidential talks at the Kansas City Art Institute.
In her upcoming class, she will lead students through the process of painting interior spaces with a focus on capturing light and atmosphere. Students are encouraged to bring a photo reference—either from their own home or any interior scene they find inspiring—that emphasizes interesting lighting.
