Artists in the Schools
The Artists in the Schools program brings arts enrichment experiences to students in grades Pre-K through 12 in public and parochial schools throughout the St. Joseph area.
Professional teaching artists offer engaging demonstrations, presentations, and hands-on activities that complement classroom learning and support curriculum goals. Teachers may request an artist by completing a request form, and all sessions are provided free of charge to eligible schools in the St. Joseph area.
For the 2026-2027 school year, eight artists representing a variety of disciplines are available for school visits, along with guided Sculpture Walk tours around downtown St. Joseph. Programs can be adapted to meet the needs of different grade levels and subject areas.
A total of 50 sessions will be available this year, so educators are encouraged to submit requests early.
The Artists in the Schools program is endorsed by the St. Joseph School District and funded in part by the Arts Fund of the Allied Arts Council and the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency. Additional support is provided by the PTA Council, individual PTAs, and local civic organizations.
