 oring the traditional process of creating a master copy painting.\n\nStude
 nts will select a painting by an artist they admire and create their own s
 mall-scale version on an 8x10-inch or smaller canvas. Rather than focusing
  on creating an exact reproduction\, this workshop is designed to help stu
 dents slow down\, study another artist’s choices\, and gain a deeper under
 standing of composition\, value\, color\, and technique.\n\nCody will guid
 e students through the four-step painting process he uses in his own work:
  drawing and transfer\, grisaille underpainting\, color block-in\, and ove
 rpainting. Students will begin with acrylic paints for the underpainting a
 nd color block-in before transitioning to oils for the finishing stages. T
 his approach allows the class to move through each step more quickly\, mak
 ing it possible to experience the full process in a single day.\n\nBy the 
 end of the workshop\, students will have a strong start on—or potentially 
 complete—their master copy while learning a versatile painting process the
 y can continue practicing and applying to their own work at home.\n\nMater
 ials to Bring:\n\nOne 8x10-inch or smaller canvas panel or stretched canva
 s\n\n1–3 printed artwork references by painters you admire\; choose images
  with proportions similar to an 8x10 canvas\n\nAcrylic paint: red\, yellow
 \, blue\, brown\, black\, and white (exact colors are your choice)\n\nOil 
 paint: recommended colors include alizarin crimson\, lemon yellow or cadmi
 um yellow\, ultramarine blue\, phthalo or cerulean blue\, burnt umber\, an
 d titanium white\; students may bring colors they are comfortable using\n
 \nPaintbrushes in a variety of sizes\n\nPalette or palette paper for mixin
 g colors\n\nDiamond-shaped palette knife\n\nDrawing materials\, including 
 pencil\, ruler\, and erasers\n\nJar for water/solvent\n\nPaper towels
